Construction of District Line underground railway. Using the cut-and-cover technique, Nos. 23-24 Leinster Gardens, Bayswater, had to be demolished to make way for the railway. The gap through Leinster Gardens was closed later by dummy house facades which matched the rest of terrace. An albumen print by Henry Flather, a professional photographer based in Regent Street between 1866 and 1873.
