Busy street scene in Brixton depicting the Salvation Army, tradesmen, a mother with baby in pushchair, figure riding a bike, and an African woman posing. Barry Fantoni painted this Brixton street scene. The central figure on a bicycle represents Christ. Fantoni is son of the Italian born painter Peter Fantoni. Born in 1940, Barry Fantoni grew up in south east London and attended Camberwell Art School. Since 1963 he has been a member of the ‘Private Eye’ editorial team and is known for his cartoons and caricatures.
