Slanguage Pendant Necklace (assorted colours) Xinyi Chen
FREE postage on UK orders over £30
Xinyi Chen repurposes discarded electronic components to create jewellery she affectionally calls Artificial Intelligems. This new collection of work for London Museum Docklands incorporates precious metals and e-waste, finding a new use for the throw-away objects of this age. Xinyi sets e-waste -including tiny diodes and vintage capacitors from radios - into silver mounts, which are plated in gold and other coloured finishes.
Sourcing materials primarily from WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Recycling Centres, she challenges conventional notions of fine jewellery, prompting reflection on material value and sustainability.
Materials: E-waste, Sterling silver,18ct gold-plate
