Raewyn Harrison

Raewyn Harrison is a London based ceramic artist who grew up in New Zealand.  She creates porcelain collections with a strong narrative based on sites and structures that fascinate her. She uses a variety of making techniques, including hand building, slip casting and throwing. Her trademark torn or dribbling edges are combined with collaged images and glazes to make each piece unique.

For many years, the river Thames has been a constant source of inspiration which led to the creation of her Mud Larking series. She collects fragments from the foreshore, delves into archives for related maps, and goes on expeditions to take photographs of decommissioned structures in the Thames Estuary.

For the Secrets of the Thames exhibition she has focused on the London Delftware pottery based along the river Thames in the 17th and 18th centuries.
