This wooden stamp with a comet design is hand carved following the designs of a small Nepalese family business. The tradition of stamp making is very old in Nepal where traditionally they were (and still are!) being used for cloth and paper printing. Until today all prayer books are made with hand carved printing blocks. These patterns have been following traditional styles, but have changed since the original designs to modern patterns today, such as animals and flowers.
