The north quay at the London docks. Stacks and transit shed of the London Docks in 1907. In the foreground it can be seen part of the consignment of Terragona wine, shipped by Messrs W. & A. Gilbey Ltd. Casks remain on the quayside for customs gauging and sampling, before removal to the vaults beneath the warehouses. The turrets on the transit sheds housed hydraulic cranes, which could swing out to discharge and load cargoes from waiting ships and barges.
