In the left foreground is Millbank Terrace with a Mayday procession and milkmaid with traditional garland. There is a hurdy gurdy player on the left. Also shown are Royal bargeman, a Thames waterman and youths bathing. Beyond can be seen Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's tower. In the distance the City waterfront can be seen, with Lambeth Palace and Marsh in the middle distance.
