The Great Exhibition Canada 1852

£25.00
The Great Exhibition, interior view of the Canadian departments. The Canadian exhibit promoted the country's rich natural resources. They included specimens of ores and precious metals, minerals, stones, timber, fur and agricultural produce. Manufactured goods included sleighs and a powerful fire engine, which were shown alongside a native canoe. The inclusion of objects made by Indians startled some commentators, who thought of them as 'savages'.
