                The Women's Social and Political Union Drum and Fife Band, 1909. The 20 member band was formed in May 1909 and made their first appearance a the Women's Exhibition held at Prince's Skating Rink. Here the band dressed in their purple, white and green uniforms are marching through London's streets to promote and raise public awareness of this fund-raising exhibition. Heading the band is the Suffragette prisoner and Drum Major Mary Leigh.
